"I Am Planet Earth" was born from an old dream to create a project in Iceland — a journey through one of the most raw and extraordinary landscapes on Earth.
After several days of travelling to reach Iceland, the project unfolded through long days and very little sleep, as the team travelled around the entire island in search of the most incredible and untouched places. They found them in volcanic landscapes, endless black beaches, glaciers, mountains, windswept valleys, and vast open spaces.
At the heart of "I Am Planet Earth" is a simple truth: we are not separate from the world around us. We are an integral part of this diverse and beautiful planet, even though humanity often seems determined to forget it.
By destroying everything around us, we inevitably destroy a part of ourselves.
Each photograph in the I Am Planet Earth series explores the incredible diversity of nature and the many ways in which the human body can exist within it. The landscapes may appear completely different from one another, just as people do, yet everything is deeply interconnected.
Every breath we take depends on countless other living organisms. Every body belongs to the same living system. And perhaps we are only beginning to understand how much responsibility we carry for the future of the planet we call home.
The project was created as a reminder that we are not merely living on Earth — we are Earth.
If we can begin to see ourselves as part of nature rather than something separate from it, perhaps we can learn to protect the world that has given us life.
"I Am Planet Earth" is an exploration of the evolving relationship between humanity and nature and a reflection of the growing need for this relationship to be seen, felt, and remembered through art.
